TEXAS VEGAN SOUTHERN FRIED TOMATOES

 

I remember growing up in East Texas and picking fresh green tomatoes out of our garden. My grandma called them "Maters," a Southern way of saying tomato. Fried Green Tomatoes are a delicacy in the South, and they're the best when they're fried hard and crispy right out of the grease.

 
 

If you've never had Fried Green Tomatoes, you must try this recipe. The perfect tomatoes are sliced not too thick, seasoned well, and fried in peanut oil. You can use another cooking oil to fry your Maters, but I think you'll get the perfect amount of crispness by using peanut oil.

The ingredients for this recipe are also simple, and you may have most of these ingredients in your pantry and fridge.
